Therapy
Therapy for children, young people and parents in Bristol, Bath and the surrounding areas
I take a collaborative and empathic approach to supporting children, young people and their families with the challenges that they face. Parenting can be tough, especially if your child has additional needs. Ensuring that you and your child are at ease is my priority.
What I can help with
I work with children, young people and their families to support with emotional difficulties including anxiety, low mood and depression, anger, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and with behavioural difficulties and family relationship difficulties, also on challenges around sleep, eating and toileting. I offer parent support and coaching in relation to all of these. I offer post diagnosis work to children, young people and their families following a diagnosis of Autism or ADHD.
How I work
I draw on a range of evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Positive Behaviour Support. Developing a shared understanding of the difficulties is an important part of the work.
Appointments with parents are typically online, though they can be face to face if you prefer. All appointments with children and young people are offered face to face at my consulting rooms in Clifton, Bristol.
How many sessions will we need?
It can be difficult to predict, and I will give you an indication at the initial appointment. Sometimes a single appointment is enough to clarify the issues. Often between four and ten sessions are needed for goals to be met, though occasionally more. If you have a particular number of sessions in mind, please tell me and I will take that into account in planning.
Fees
My hourly rate for therapeutic work is £120. Payment is made session by session in advance, by bank transfer. These fees are exempt from VAT.
